My name is R. Abercrombie. I go by the stage name: Versitile. I'm from Birmingham,Alabama.I was born to G.Abercrombie & R.Solid on Aug.7,1979 in B'ham Alabama. As a child i was deeply inspired by the hip hop artists of the early 80's. L.L.cool J,will smith,krs 1 & rdmc
are responsible for my deep passion for music & lyricism. At the age of 9 i wrote my first rap & i resite it to my parents.to them; it was very creative & cute. but to me; it was like my first big break. i felt as if:i was doing a live performance, because i put my all into it..
as i grew older, my love for music matured. by age 15, i've gotten the opportunity to perform live with my cousin & aunt(at a night club.)
it was a full house & the people jumped to their feet to cheer & dance to our performance.that was the very moment when i decided to be an music entertainer..by the time i was 19,i adopted the stage name:versitile (WHICH HAS A DEFINITION) and i had a few notebooks that were full of verses & hooks. & by the time i turned 21, i'd
finally developed & mastered my style which is a combination of all forms of lyricism; such as:a old school foundation,a new school swagger;with a conscience but poetic state of mind.& the thing that makes my style so unique is: i easily adapt to the music before i begin to write to it.& i try to be as vivid & poetic as possible. I also have the ability to change my style of writing or topic
i try to reach out to all types of people by making music for everyone. i never stick to one M.O or style. i may record a song for the gangsters today & turn around & record something for the clubs or something positive. but since i live in a area where studios are scarce or expensive,began to save money, to purchase my own: production & recording equiptment. by age 23, i owned my own home recording studio & began to produce instrumentals & record them into songs. I completed my first album:(Klassikal Entertainment) in June of 2006. I shot the album cover while in Mexico in Dec. of 2006. As of now, i'm working the local scene in my area.I participate in open mic events,when ever there's a opportunity to be heard,i'm there...I have not had the opportunity to hire or work with any managers nor promoters because: they are rare in my home
town..On july 4,2007 my solo album went on sale as a digital mp3 album available for $5.00 per download. shortly afterwards, i went on to build my own social network called: united unsigned atists of america. as of now,i attend a local college in my area. I'm working to get a degree in radio & television broadcast production. And at the sametime, I'm going to continue to promote: My Album online.
& run my social network..& since i live in a region where there
isn't any major: labels, manager nor promoters. i'm manually building a online fan base to promote my online record sales. i'm currently digitally distributing my singles through snocap, imeem & imp music stores. on aug 31,2007 my showcase finshed in 3rd place in a contest held at: artistpr.com .i have active accounts with sizable freinds lists at:united unsigned artists of america & myspace.com/theversitile.on united unsigned artists of america, my singles has been rated 5 stars overall by members & vistors. i have not yet been featured in any magazines nor radio shows.but if i had the opportunity to capitalize on any chance; i'd definately go at it full force.
